Frequently Asked Questions

Please reach us at info@cerebrumwellness.com if you cannot find an answer to your question.

During each session clients sit comfortably in a gravity chair. A qualified technician will setup each technology, including placing sensors on your earlobe or head.

You will engage in approximately 40 minutes of active therapy, with 10 minutes dedicated to setting up and removing the various neurotechnologies.

✔ Comfortable, loose-fitting clothing – Relaxation is key, so opt for soft fabrics like cotton, athletic wear, or loungewear.

✔ Minimal metal accessories – If you’re using pEMF or tDCS, it’s best to remove jewelry, watches, or metal accessories, as they may interfere with the equipment.

✔ Layers – The room is kept at a comfortable temperature, but if you tend to get cold, feel free to bring a light sweater or hoodie.

✔ No heavy hair products – If you’re receiving tDCS, avoid excessive gels, sprays, or oils in your hair, as they can affect electrode contact.

The goal is for you to feel relaxed and at ease during your session, so dress in whatever makes you most comfortable!

Immediate Benefits (After 1 Session):

Many clients report feeling relaxed, clear-headed, and refreshed after just one session. Some may experience reduced stress, better focus, or improved mood right away.

Short-Term Benefits (Within a Few Sessions):

  • Better Sleep Quality – Many notice deeper, more restful sleep within a few sessions.
  • Reduced Brain Fog & Stress – Your nervous system begins to regulate, leading to a calmer, sharper mind.
  • Enhanced Focus & Mental Clarity – You may feel more engaged and productive in daily tasks.

Long-Term Benefits (4-12+ Sessions):

For lasting changes, consistent sessions are key. Over time, therapies like NIR, pEMF, and tDCS can help with:

✔ Sustained stress resilience
✔ Cognitive enhancement & memory improvement
✔ Emotional regulation & mood balance
✔ Chronic pain and fatigue relief

The effects of your Cerebrum Wellness session depend on your individual goals, brain health, and the type of therapy used. Many clients experience noticeable, lasting improvements within 4-6 weeks of regular sessions. Since brain optimization is a process, we recommend a personalized plan for the best long-term results.

Your session at Cerebrum Wellness is designed to be a deeply relaxing and restorative experience, so we generally recommend minimizing distractions. However, here’s what you can and can’t do during different therapies:

✔  Listening to Music – Yes! Soft, relaxing music or guided meditations can enhance your session. We can provide calming soundscapes, or you can bring your own playlist with headphones. Please note: patients using Infrasonic Resonance will engage in a 30 minute soundscape.

✔  Reading – In some cases, light reading may be fine, but for therapies like HRV Biofeedback, we recommend keeping your eyes closed to encourage deep relaxation and optimal brain activity.

✖ Using Your Phone – It’s best to put your phone on silent mode or airplane mode to avoid distractions.

  • Keep all electronic away from pEMF coils due to possible electronic damage.

✖ Watching TV or Screens – Screen use is not recommended during sessions, as blue light and digital stimulation can counteract the relaxation and neuroregulation effects of your therapy.

💡 Best Practice: To maximize benefits, we encourage fully unplugging and allowing your brain to reset during the session. If you’d like, we can provide guided breathing or meditation to help you relax even further.

While Cerebrum Wellness therapies are non-invasive and generally safe, certain conditions may require modifications or medical clearance before use. Below are some key contraindications for specific therapies:

General Contraindications

❌ Pregnancy (especially first trimester) – Some therapies, like PEMF and tDCS, should be used with caution during pregnancy.

❌ Implanted Medical Devices – If you have a pacemaker, defibrillator, cochlear implant, or deep brain stimulator, electromagnetic-based therapies (like pEMF and tDCS) may interfere with the device.

❌ Stroke or Seizure Disorders – If you have a history of stroke or epilepsy, consult a healthcare professional before brain stimulation.

❌ Severe Psychiatric Conditions – Individuals with schizophrenia or psychosis should consult a healthcare professional before brain stimulation.

Therapy-Specific Contraindications

✔ PEMF (Pulsed Electromagnetic Field Therapy)

  • Avoid if you have metal implants near the treatment area or an active infection.

✔ tDCS (Transcranial Direct Current Stimulation)

  • Consult a healthcare professional if you have a history of stroke or seizures.
  • Avoid if you have skin sensitivity/allergy to electrodes.

✔ Near-Infrared Therapy (NIR)

  • Avoid or limit dose if you have photosensitivity disorders or are taking light-sensitive medications.

💡 If you have any of the above conditions, please consult with us before booking a session. We can discuss safe alternatives or modifications to tailor the experience to your needs.

Most therapies at Cerebrum Wellness are non-invasive and well-tolerated, with minimal side effects. However, some individuals may experience temporary effects as the brain and body adjust to the treatments. Here’s what to expect:

Possible Mild & Temporary Side Effects:

✔ After pEMF (Pulsed Electromagnetic Field Therapy)

  • Mild fatigue or detox-like symptoms (headache, temporary dizziness) as the body adjusts to improved circulation and cellular activity. We recommend client drink plenty of water before and after pEMF.
  • Increased energy or a sense of relaxation, depending on the settings used.

✔ After tDCS (Transcranial Direct Current Stimulation)

  • A mild tingling or itching sensation at the electrode site (typically fades within minutes).
  • Temporary mood shifts (e.g., feeling more energized or introspective).
  • Rare cases of mild skin irritation at the contact points.

✔ After Near-Infrared Therapy (NIR)

  • A warming sensation on the skin (not a burn, just increased circulation).
  • Rarely, those sensitive to light might become irritable or agitated from too large a dose of NIR light.

💡 Most side effects, if experienced, are temporary and resolve within a few minutes to hours. If anything feels uncomfortable, we can adjust the settings or techniques to better suit your body’s response.

If you have any pre-existing conditions or concerns, let us know before your session so we can personalize your experience for maximum comfort and benefit.

At Cerebrum Wellness we don't diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent any disease or medical condition. If you are seeking a diagnosis or treatment, we recommend working with licensed professionals like Mind Body Treatment.

Cerebrum Wellness was founded by Brenda Cuevas, a neuroscience-trained practitioner with interdisciplinary education and advanced training in genetics and genomics, qEEG brain mapping, objective brain analysis, neuromodulation technologies, and behavioral sciences. Her professional experience spans neuroscience-based brain wellness, neurotechnology, and educational environments supporting children with developmental and behavioral differences through behavioral analysis and individualized learning support.

These experiences fostered a deep appreciation for the relationship between brain function, learning, behavior, and human potential, shaping the compassionate, whole-person philosophy that defines Cerebrum Wellness today.

Every wellness plan begins with objective brain mapping and neurophysiological analysis, allowing personalized brain modulation and training protocols to be tailored to each individual's unique brain activity, goals, and cognitive needs. By integrating advanced, evidence-informed technologies with individualized care, Cerebrum Wellness supports cognitive optimization, nervous system regulation, emotional well-being, healthy aging, and lifelong brain health.

We believe that meaningful change begins with understanding. Proudly serving our community in English and Spanish, we are committed to providing an environment where science, compassion, and connection come together to help every individual better understand and support their brain.
